Postdoctoral Fellowship Grants

 
Project Purple offers two research grants per academic year for post graduate students who are proposing research into pancreatic cancer. Each grant is worth $10,000. The application for this academic year has closed (see winners below). Application will reopen in Spring 2015.

Jennifer Miller, M.D.

Expected graduation date: June 19, 2020

“My career aspirations culminate in becoming an academic Surgical Oncologist, which requires a commitment to clinical duties, research and teaching. A foundation in the basic sciences, including cancer biology and tumor immunology, will play an important role in my development as an academic surgical oncologist. A strong foundation in the basic science of pancreatic cancer will promote excellence in clinical practice as well as research. A background in developing novel cancer therapies will allow me the opportunity to craft a career in which I am fully engaged in the clinical enterprise of identifying and developing approaches for my patients in concert with my clinical and basic science colleagues.”

“Being an international student, I have gone through several obstacles to reach where I am today. The project which I have been working on has emerged after several rounds of standardization and failed attempts. The proposed research would help me understand the role of PD2 in pancreatic cancer stem cells and also provide me a foundation to the biology of cancer stem cells.

I am positive that my choice of research project will provide a solid foundation to reach my goal of learning novel techniques, understanding novel mechanisms, and earning efficient research experience needed to become an independent investigator.”
